Hey Fashionistas,

Whenever there is an event like the red carpet it is so much fun to stare at the many dresses that come down the carpet. It is truly an ART!!! Here are the dresses that have so much WOW to them that I could not resist sharing my thoughts on them...

Keke Palmer looked beautiul in this sun colored, one shoulder dress. I loved the look!!!

I loved this color on Mya. The halter neck with the rectangular cut, bowing in the middle is beautiful and classy.

Kimberly Elise looks like a goddess in this pale blue dress with a jeweled waist.

I have seen many blogs that did not like this look but I think that Raven Symone looks great in this pale pink, floral, print dress. The shoes are fab too.

The second best dress of the bunch was definitely Tatyana Ali she shined on the carpet.

I predicted that capris and cargo pants would be in for the sping and I was right!!! I chose these colors because they are warm and beautiful but they are also vibrant. I can't help but think of mornings with cantaloupe and toast to start the day of shopping!!! LOL... I see a lot of people embracing these colors this year. Also, I love earth tones.

Tweety on the Scene- Red Carpet for Secret Society the Paly

Hey Fashionistas:

I had the pleasure of participating as the fashion host on the red carpet of one of the most anticipated stage plays in Philly, Secret Society. There was so much going on that I want to give you a quick rundown of everything that occurred. I should have done it on my Twitter but I forgot about the dang thing…

I arrived early to the auditorium and had the opportunity to meet Carmen, one of the hottest publicists in Philly. She was the one that invited me and I thank her.

I went to get dressed. I wore a beautiful silver/champagne colored dress made by Walish Gooshe. What made this dress so hot are the ties that create a halter. You twist them and create a really cool crisscross on the back. There are many ways to tie it. I was blinging greatly with accessories. I wore drop crystal earrings; a crystal bracelet and a gorgeous ring that matched my clothing to the T! I also wore silver strappy sandals by Wild Rose. They had a diamond pendant on them. My wardrobe was picked out for me by my stylist, Angela Edmunds, of Showroom 77. She is the best!

I decided that I wanted to go natural on the red carpet so I did not wear any makeup. I twisted my hair that evening so I had a messy-wave look with it all flowing to the side. This was a trick that I learned from my mom. I looked great!

I met a lot of great people starting with the ladies of Totally Posh Boutique. These three ladies know how to do the red carpet. They were wearing exclusives that can only be purchased at the boutique. We had a great time sharing the carpet and fashion dos and don’ts for red carpet fashion.

I talked with the designer of my dress and the man behind Walish Gooshe, Greg Taylor. He thought that I looked absolutely fabulous in his dress. I blush! We talked about the look for the summer and he had a lot of great ideas. Greg said that color is in. “Jewels colors are in right now and they should be worn with class.” Quite a few dresses that he made for his new line feature jewel tones. Be sure to check them out.

I also talked with Isis from America’s Next Top Model. She is really beautiful and very nice. She had on this beautiful dress that her designer created and it was fabulous. What made her such an amazing lady (yes, lady for those of you who want to contradict my thoughts) is that she is so down to earth and full of life. She answered many of my ANTM questions including whether or not what we see on TV is real. ‘Everything and then some,” she replied.

We had a very lively debate about my age which was hilarious. She said to me, “I think that you would be a shoe-in for the next show because they are dealing with girls that are 5’7” and shorter.”

“I would love to do that show but I am too young,” I said.

‘Wait a minute, how old are you?” She had a look on her face that said she would not believe that I was younger than 18.

“I am 14.” I said and gave a giggle.

“Shut up! I thought you were like 20.” She laughed. I was flattered that she thought that I had what it takes to be a contender but should I be flattered that I look old. I asked her.

“Oh no, I think that it is because you carry yourself so well that your maturity surpasses your age.” She said giving me a hug.

Finally, I was able to talk to my mentor, Miasha, the lady of the night and how she was feeling about her moment. “I love it.” She looked great as always because when Miasha shops she does it big. I was flattered when she told me that I looked absolutely beautiful.

There were so many other people that I had the chance to meet and speak with about the nights events, that I can’t even begin to type it all. Overall, I hada great time and look forward to my next red carpet event.

I’m Baaaaack!!!

Hey Fashionistas:

I’m Baaaaack!!! I know that you all have been wodering, “what has happened to my dear fashionista blogger”? Well, let me tell you, it has been a hard ending to the winter and entrance to the spring.

Well, first I was having a terrible cold that was taking so much out of me. At first it started as a little cough that I would just suck on lozenges until the tickle went away but it never did. They I started getting slight fevers. I went to the doctors and they said that they did not see anything wrong so they told me to get plenty of rest. I did that and then it got to a point where I could barely get up in the morning, but to being the super-strong young lady that I am to be, I would pull myself from the bed and begin typing away. I later started having trouble breathing at night and I would cough until the wee hours of the morning. Needless to say that you would never know that I was a fashionista because my look was hideous. I dare not show you the pics.

My mom and dad kept feeding me oranges and pure orange juice to boost my immune system. I had plenty of tea and lemon. I was rubbed with tea tree oil and I bathed a lot to get the germs off. Then finally, I could not take it anymore. I would sleep, cough, ache, wheeze, and my temperature kept reaching high numbers. My mom and dad took me to the hospital and I was treated for an upper respiratory infection that kicked my butt. I had no voice for like two weeks so therefore I was not able to tape my show. I am so sorry guys, because I know you anticipate it every month.

I was miserable and on top of that, I had to make up all the work that I had missed in school and trust me, it was a lot!

Now I am well and ready to get things rolling!!! I plan to be taping again in July but in the meantime you will be seeing a new addition to my show titled, “Tweety Speaks: Fashionista Files” which will take you through the day and life of me, Tweety E. and what I have been doing to add to the fashion cause.

Preparing for the Prom- Look Fabulous with these tips!!!

Hey Fashionistas:

I recently did a prom expo with celebrity hair stylist, Naeemah Johnson of Celebrity Hair Studio. I had a great time. I was a host and feature model and I had the privilege of sitting in Naeemah’s chair and getting the best hairstyle to date. I loved the long soft curls the she gave that created a youthful and elegant look. Check out the pics.

I also love the make up that was created by Naeema (different person). She definitely knows how to make a face! I appreciated the natural look and the eyes were amazing.

So here are my prom predictions for the year:

1. Definitely a soft makeup with a little color. Don’t go crazy and splatter so much color on you that you look like a circus act. Keep it simple and pretty. This is the celebrity look that is totally glam.

2. Natural hair is definitely a go! Have your tresses dangle softly. No extreme styles, just soft and pretty. Think of Lena Horne, Mayme Johnson (wife of Bumpy Johnson, the Harlem Gangster). I also like the 30’s wave look. Think of Dorothy Dandridge and Josephine Baker. etc.

3. Dresses should be long and beautiful. Please, do not wear a bikini to the prom. That is for the pool party afterwards. Too much skin is not attractive on such a special night and since we are teens, the look should be reminiscent of classic not tragic! 4. You can never go wrong with a cute clutch that is glittery, a pair of dangling crystal earrings, and glittery shoes.

Look Who's Back!!!

Hey you guys! Did you miss me???

I know that I haven’t written any hot articles or taped a March show because I was really under the weather! I couldn’t stop coughing, sneezing and on top of all that I couldn’t even talk! Thank goodness I’m better now!

Today was my first day back to work and I have to say it felt GREAT! I went to a great class called Fashion Boot Camp 101: For Teens with Marissa Rizzuto. She gave an excellent step by step guide in how to break into the fashion industry and pinpoint what exactly you want to do in the industry. It was very informative and definitely something I would recommend any stylista or fashionista to attend. Be sure to check my Blog in a week to read and see what I had to say about the book that goes along with the class that revealed so much about the fashion industry.

What was most impressive about Marissa is that she is very personable and even gave us her contact information so that with any questions that we have or concerns, we can get in touch with her… kind of like a big sister in fashion :)!

Fashionista Files- In the life of a Fashionista!

Let me tell you about real life. Real life is when you have a computer and realize it’s pretty much worthless if you can’t even get on the internet. Do you want to know why I can’t get on the internet? Well, I can’t get on the internet because when the electric company came to fix the electricity (after a big wind storm) they accidently hit the phone cord. Without the phone cord what can’t you do? GET ON THE INTERNET! ARRRRRGGHH!

This is so weird. I am usually on the internet posting my fashion articles on my blogs, looking up fashion information, checking emails, and talking to my Facebook friends but now all I can do is play pinball (who plays pinball anymore???).

You should see me and my family, every five minutes we go and look and see if the internet is working. The phone company says they’ll come fix it on Wednesday, I hope so…. (Sighs) What now? I guess for now I’ll finish enjoying the library computers.

Chris Brown vs. RiHanna

I figured since no one else has said anything, I would. I am a teen and I know that domestic violence is something that has affected families for centuries, but what could have been the problem in Chris and RiHanna’s relationship that he would be so angry that he would attack her in such a manor? According to reports www.TMZ.com he gave her a pretty good beat down!

But why would such a young couple and new couple have such problems that they would be career ending?

Personally, I think that it has to be a lack of a good role model when it comes to relationships and it also has to be not having the proper guidance. I say this because, as a youth, I don’t see how you would know what to do in a relationship. I mean, we are just learning who we are, so imagine embracing another personality? I stay away from a relationship at such a young age because my parents explained to me what a relationship is all about and I am not yet ready for that. They have a great relationship and it is very involved. They support one another.

I find it complicated to do so as a youth because I have grades that I want to keep up and a budding career that I can not afford to have interfered with. Was there anyone to tell them what they were getting in to or to stop them? I just wonder.

They said that Chris saw his mother beaten and that he cherished women because of that but what made him explode? Did a flashing of what he thinks a man should do to his woman pop into his mind? Or did he lie about his feelings for women? I think the first is more true to his explanation then the latter.

I think what is more disturbing is that they are not too far from my age and there are youth that admire them and now they may follow in their footsteps, especially if they get back together.

Is a teenage love really worth it when there is no proper guidance?

I know for a fact that there is domestic violence in a lot of teen relationships, but my question is will people pay more attention now that it is in the celebrity circle?

A young mind would like to know….

How did Shecky's Girl Night Out all begin?
My business partner Chris Hoffman started Shecky's 10 years ago as a publishing company specializing in local nightlife guidebooks. I had an event company when I met him in 2001 and in January 2002 we decided to collaborate and evolve Shecky's into multi-platform media company that would include events, publications and Web site content. The first Shecky's Girls Night Out event celebrated a book launch, "The Girl's Guide to NY Nightlife," in Dec. 2001; since then, we've expanded Girls Night Out into almost 20 markets nationwide, including Miami, with the mission to bring women the ultimate girlfriend entertainment experience.

Where did you get the name Shecky's?
The name Shecky's came about thanks to our CEO, Chris Hoffman. Back in his days as a stock broker for Lehman Brothers, he was well-known on the trading floor as a wise-cracking kid and was compared to the likes of comedian Shecky Green, which led to his now infamous nickname, "Shecky."

The 51st Grammys was really good this year. I heard a lot of my favorite songs. But the most important thing was what the celebrities were wearing!

Whitney Houston

She looked really good after making a huge recovery! I really loved her Zuhair Murad dress, but her hair wasn’t my favorite. All in all she looked great! One question, was it me or did she look like Tina Turner!?

Jennifer Hudson

I have to give my condolences to Jennifer for the horrible passings of her family. I really give her props. She went up in front of all those people and sung a beautiful song. I really didn’t like her Roland Mouret Resort dress but I really loved her hair. She really looked good in her second outfit.

Dwayne Johnson

I think that he was really nervous because when he was introducing the next act he didn’t do very well. But he looked really fashion conscious with his black suit.

Carrie Underwood

Talking about FAB! I really loved her champagne colored China Mort mini with gladiator straps.

LeAnn Rimes

This was one of my favorites because it reminds me of something I could wear. It was a turquoise and brown dress by Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti. It looked so native!

Katy Perry

Even though her dancing wasn’t up to par, I really loved her glittery Josephine Baker- like banana dress. It was full of color just like her song! Looooooved the backup dancers white suits and their fedoras.

Estelle/Kanye West

Even though my mom and I love when Estelle sings “American Boy” we DID NOT like her Bernard Chandran dress. They were in my opinion one of the worst. I really didn’t feel the Chanel Kanye was wearing along with that 80s hair do. It was a mess! He looked like Turbo from the movie Breakin’!

Adele

Man this girl can sing and from what I can see she can dress too. I really loved sleek LBD. Hey, Big girls can dress snazzy too!!!

Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, T.I, and Kanye

They looked really good other than a few small things that aren’t that fashionable.

She did really good on stage (especially for a woman due for birth the same day) even though House of Holland outfit was hideous!

Hey Fashionistas:

I want to tell you about a great experience I had the other day. First of all, I have to say that Facebook is the bomb and if you are not on there, what are you waiting for! It is one of the best ways to meet people and stay connected with close friends from your past and present, so shout out to FB!!!

Well, my mom and I have become FB addicts and not to long ago she ran across a friend to our cousin. Her name is Anika Lee Thompson and she is the founder of Ryan Foster, Inc. Well, as we were looking over her wall, we noticed that she had videos about a product that she created herself (meaning she did not have team, nor was she in a laboratory). The name of the product is St8AwaySufle and it guarantees to straighten the hair and give it a lustrous shine without ANY chemicals like relaxers or other hair products that women of color tend to use to get the “good hair” look.

Well, I am Native American and for the most part my hair is easy to manage but it can get very thick on the ends and very wavy and curly. Please do not believe what you see on TV about Native Americans all having bone straight hair! That is as silly as thinking that the sun raises when you wake up. There are many different textures of hair amongst my people just as it is amongst African-Americans, Latinos and other races because of the mingling of races in America (and of course abroad).

Anyway, my mom was like freaking out about the product and said that she wanted to learn more because if it worked the way that it was displayed in the video, it was a hair miracle in a jar. So, when we contacted her and asked her to be on the show and she agreed.

Well, Miss Thompson is very knowledgeable when it comes to hair. She explained that the reason that she created St8AwaySufle was because she was working in the salons and like many of us, she was addicted to the smell of the fresh pressed and washed hair that makes you think of primp and pamper. The problem was that the chemicals were giving her headaches, ruining her hands, and giving her nose bleeds. She then decided that she wanted to create a product that was not going to harm her and definitely not her clients.

So she went to her kitchen (the new age Madame CJ Walker), and began putting all natural ingredients in a pot until she came up with the perfect blend. This blend is so good that you only need a dime size amount that you run through your hair while wet, then you blow dry. The product works with the heated air and that is what gives the bone straight look and feel.

It took her no more than an hour to completely dry my hair and give it an awesome curl. I was impressed and excited because now when my mom is doing my hair, she is not raking through my hair which causes damaging ends. Not to mention my mom is heavy handed so pain is involved, with St8AwaySufle, there was no pain.

I think that this product is a miracle and that every stylist should have it in their stores because it is all natural and it creates less overhead and you save more on things like electricity, time, etc.

I also think that every mother should use it on their child with a tender head of coarse hair because there will be less pain on her and it takes no more than 10 minutes to do.

Is There a Difference???

I have a lot of cool friends in the fashion industry and we have a lot of discussions on of course, fashion. Today, I was speaking with my good friend who is very YHC, Elizabeth Wellington of the Philadelphia Inquirer. She is a true fashionista.

Well, today, she wrote an article on housedresses that I found very interesting. I told her that in one of my videos, I actually had on a “mumu” that looked rather cute on me. She then said that it is not a “mumu” but a “housedress”. She later wrote a blog about our conversation. Thank you for mentioning me, Miss YHC… LOL.

Well Ms. Wellington thinks that there is a difference between the mumu and the housedress. I say that there is a difference fashionably, but not by the actual usage and meaning. As a young lady that believes in knowing as much facts as possible about fashion, I thought I would share what I learned previously about this controversial item.

According to wikipedia.org, a mumu is: “a loose dress of Hawaiian origin that hangs from the shoulder. Like the Aloha shirt, mumus are often brilliantly colored with floral patterns of generic Polynesian motifs. They are not as widely worn at work as the aloha shirt, but may be worn as a uniform by women working in the hotel industry. Mumus are also popular as maternity gowns and with obese people because they do not restrict the waist.”

I then looked up house dresses on dictionary.com and it states that a housedress is, “a relatively simple and inexpensive dress suitable for housework.”

Therefore, are they one in the same, I say yes! More than likely, the European version of the house dress was more than likely derived from the Hawaiian creation meant for relaxation and working around the home. We all know that most designers get fashion ideas from inspirations that they see all over the world.

Another question that came from our conversation was, is the mumu/housedress fashionable enough to be worn out of the house? I say, no way!!! Come on, that is why it is a housedress. I could care less how it is cut it should be worn in doors. But Miss Elizabeth and I agree on this because we have like minds. We both LOVE red!!!

The lay that I have on is one for the thrifty fashionista. From head to toe (respectively): Black sequins bonnet/ barrette (a product of *house diving), Plum scarf (Wet Seal), Black racer back tank (Old Navy), Yellow cardigan (Wet Seal), White and black piped boot cut trouser (Brand: Kenneth Cole; T.J. Maxx), Black patent leather faux reptile print pump (Barefeet), and Plum clutch with faux reptile print (house diving). Accessories are all silver with crystals in the necklace.

*House diving: random finds during house cleaning; usually vintage and sometimes new but forgotten pieces.

The Inauguration Fashion

I am pleased as a youth to see that President Obama is ready for action and looking to make a difference in our lives. I was impressed by the inauguration and how well the first family conducted themselves, but of course I was most impressed with the fashion of the day!!!

Mrs. Obama- Inauguration Clothes

Mrs. Obama looked great in her Michael Kors Pebble Brocade Dress (priced at $2,395) with matching coat but there are some complaints. I really didn’t like the green shoes and gloves; I think she should have put on cream pumps. I also didn’t really like the matching jacket. I think that if she was going to wear something this stand-outish then she should have had a solid color overcoat that was gree to go with those shoes and gloves. Again, her clothing had no arms. She loves to show those arms!

Mrs. Obama- Inauguration Gown

Mrs. Obama really rocked this young, hip and chic one-shouldered, ivory silk chiffon, and appliquéd all-over with a scattering of silk flowers and crystals, gown! It was as classy as was her dance with her sweet heart. The diamond drop earrings, bracelets and a signet ring by Loree Rodkin was a great fit to match her graceful Jason Wu inaugural gown.

Hey Everyone:

I have to admit that I had a great time doing this short but sweet show. I have heard so much about Disco from my Mom. My grandmother was a 70's girl and she was one of the selected people that gained entrance into the famous Studio 54.

According to what my mom tells me, it was one of the best times in fashion when it came to her elders. She said that my grandmother would wear the halter top body suits with the wrap around skirt and dance the hustle. Everyone was big into glitter and going to the roller skating ring meant that you had to have the gold colored, skin tight jeans and the sequined tube top.

Oh, yes, the Disco Era was a hot era. I mean come on; if you could be fly in polyester then it had to be a great moment. There was a lot of freedom during that time and people were having fun. Of course there was a down side to it as well, but I wanted to relive the fashion era that is making a come back.

You want to know how you can incorporate the look without looking cheesy. Well, have no fear because if it was an era that Disco Stu can continue to claim, then so can you!

I talk to stylist/designer Angela Edmunds about the look and she gave some hot ideas.

Hey Everyone!

I bring to you one of the most fun era's in fashion! I'm talking about the DISCO ERA!!! Sooo you guys, I know you are all wondering HOW CAN I GET THIS LOOK and look great in this time!?!

Well here are some some ways to get the HOT Disco look:

First of all, during the disco era, having a good look was a must! But to incorporate this look into a today's look, don't over due it or you may look like someone stuck in the era like Disco Stu. You want to take little pieces of the disco era and mix it with today's trendy clothing.

* Hot pants and Spandex tops

* Shiny clinging Lycra stretch disco pants in hot strident shiny colors

* You had to have a tube top with all sequins.

* Graphic tees were also in

* White suits and black and white mini dresses that glowed in Ultra Violet lights gave crazy disco fever

* Two inch deep platforms were worn and clogs were becoming popular.

* Boot Cut Pants or High Waist Pants that Flare at the Bottom

Why do you think that name brands are so important?

Hello Fellow Fashion Lovers:

Name brand clothing is mentioned everywhere from TV to books. It is almost as if people judge your personality by the name on your back. As a young woman growing up in a name brand generation, I think that name brands are sometimes overrated.

Why?

1. Just because it has a top designers name does not mean that it looks good on you.

2. Some bargain clothes are just as cute as the top designers and can look great once you accessorize.

3. It causes people who are envious to want what you have and sometimes take it.

4. People are now judging you on such shallowness.

5. Are you spending on the name or the product? You should care about the quality and whether it is your style, first.

When I marvel at the clothing of a top designer, it is because I love their craft, the art of it all. I will then look at the texture and quality of it. If it then seems to fit my style and looks great on me, then I have to get it, but not at the cost of putting necessities aside.
I don't know, what do you think.

Gillian thinks he’s the perfect guy for her and that they will always be together…well, that’s until he shows his true colors. No matter what she tries she’s not the girl he wants, the skinny, popular girl, A.K.A Vanessa Talbot. Gillian becomes obsessed with looking perfect for Lucas’ even if it means over working her body to be thin and quitting her favorite class .

With mid-terms coming up she has a lot to think about but when a computer hacker begins giving answers to all of the school tests. If he is not revealed the threat of an F on her test and the whole Junior class will be reality. In addition, her “so called” loving boyfriend’s temper, begins to show and Gillian is close to losing her only friends. Torn between love and religion, how can she study for mid-terms, keep her best friends, her religion, her lover, and find the hacker that threatens to ruin her clean record?

Shelly Adina is a great author that has become one my favorites. I really love the way she tells a story because you feel like you are a part of the character’s lives. Her descriptive writing is really what makes you turn the pages. She describes the weather, how it smelt, what it looked like, etc!

I definitely can’t wait until the third book, “Be Strong and Curvaceous”, coming in January because it’s going to be about Carly and her life at Spencer Academy. These three girls are definitely the voice of the new rich girl generation and so far each book has been hot!!!

Bai Ling I have no idea what’s going on with this dress but all I know is it is you might want to either get a stylist or fire the one you have because it’s just not working…

I sooooooo love Rihanna

, but I can’t really place her in a category.

I think Rihanna looks so cute in her Zac Posen Spring 2009 cream layered dress with an asymmetric hem, because it’s a very fashionable dress, but I could just tell that is was not her cup of tea because she kept pulling it down and rearranging it.

Not sure what to think...

I really think this an edgy look (which I love!) and looks great on her but I don’t think I can put Rihanna on the best dressed (sadly).

Gotta Be There Fashion Event

As a former Evoluer Girl, I can only share with you my experience. It was a great opportunity that gave an extra boost to my self esteem. There are not many organizations like the Evoluer House which teaches young women like me that we have a place in society that goes far beyond what we are shown and hear in the media-- we are the future mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts and friends that will become entrepreneurs, lawyers, community developers, stock market advisors, and yes, fashionistas!

Young women like me benefit from The Evoluer House because it aides us in reaching our fullest potential. With your support, you will be participating in helping a young woman gain the knowledge that I received and steer them away from a path of hopelessness and displacement of their skills and talents. Most young women will experience rejection and dissatisfaction, but it is how you over come it that helps us grow as a person. That is Evoluer!

Book Review- It’s All About Us

It’s All About Us was a great book! It is perfect for you if you love stories on friendship, love, and an ending that will leave you in shock!

When Lissa first arrived at the Spencer Academy Boarding School, she wanted to be sure that she connected with the “it” girls, be the top girl in the popular crowd, and get the cutest boy to fall head over heels in love with her, but there is a problem… her name is Vanessa Talbot and she is everything that Lissa wants to be. In addition, she does not like Lissa at all!

Lissa meets her loud mouth roommate Gillian Chang who isn’t afraid to speak her mind and loves God. Gillian tells Lissa that the “it” crowd is not what she thinks it is and that she should be praying to God so that he leads her in the right direction. One Tuesday, while they are in a prayer circle (which Gilligan created) Vanessa, Callum, and Vanessa’s crew pick on the girls by calling them names and asking then aimless questions about God.

One day she gets the attention she wants…Callum’s. Callum is the popular, cutest and richest boy in the school. Lissa and Callum take a liking to one another and began dating. Lissa thinks that she’s in love and she is now getting the spotlight to shine on her all while trying to stay out of the scope of Head Mistress.

Being popular comes with responsibilities and Lissa is ready so she joins the committee for the Benefactor’s Day Ball. Guess who is also a part of the committee… you got it, Vanessa and her crew. She doesn’t want to disappoint her new friends and her new boyfriend so she has to fulfill her obligation which is to get a celebrity for the event, and since her mother is working with Angelina Jolie, it should be a breeze. You will never guess how that turns out!

Just when things seem to going up hill, she reaches the top and then comes rolling down fast when one broken rule, a web cam, and a bad decision ruins it all for her. Will this finally make her realize who her true friends are? Will she understand why God is so important in her life? The only way to know is by reading the book! Philly Fashion Week!!!

I was pleased to be a part of the second annual FBH Philly Fashion Week that took place September 21-23. I know, how could it be a fashion week when it is only a weekend? Go figure. But for me, I was so caught up in the fashion game the whole week that it was a week for me (Check out webisode 3). What makes this event so young, hip and chic is that it takes place in the Courtyard of City Hall which is an amazing backdrop for a fashion show. You can help but be awed from the stage, lighting and great architecture that surrounds you.

I worked with designers RM67, Jeantrix and Tarantula. Each of these designers has a cutting edge to their look which helps you appreciate the art that is fashion. Jeantrix give a new spin to recycling by literally making their clothes out of trash. You have to check out their collection. Dame, the designer who dedicates his line RM67 to his mother had an impressive dress that fit the glamorous look that I love. I was actually supposed to walk in the dress, but I had to host. Shout out to RM67!!!

Some of my favorites were Walish Gooshe who has a great line of ready to wear clothing that is sassy and classy. Marie D Madearis has created a very fun and youthful line that is colorful and tasteful. I am in love with the patterns that she places on the jeans, and the leather jackets are hot! I was wearing one of her dresses and I looked so cute! The clothing that you see featured iin the images are by Qui'era Noir. I loved her line because there is so much color. But my favorite of all was the clothing created by the young designer of Ying Edge. His clothing is awesome and his designs for Spring ‘09 was on fire!

Overall, the 3 day event was a blast and there were many appearances from local celebrities like Nefertiti Jacquez (Fox 29 News) and Kharisma (CW 57) that made the show exciting and full of energy. Nick Pace from America’s Next Top Model (cycle 5) made an appearance and she looked great.

Kevin and Kerry of FBH (formerly Fat Boy Hype) did a great job and I look forward to next year and being on the roster. Be sure to visit the websites for other shows coming up.

Deisgners to Watch- ChiChi & ChiChi E

I was invited to a press conference for young sister designers, Chichi & Chichi E., showcasing their Spring 2009 clothing. It was held at Showroom 77 in Philadelphia.

Their Spring line was awesome! The soft yellows and deep browns were very elegant. The styles were so fashionable and ready to wear. One of my favorite outfits was a bright yellow, white and brown Roman gathered, knee length dress. It was so, Young, Hip and Chic.

The adjustable scarves that were draped over some of the necklines were the perfect accents to the attire.

Interesting fact: Chichi & Chichi E have been featured on the Tyra Bank Show and are also stylist for the show.

Kimora Lee Simmons celebrated 10 years of Baby Phat at her show on Friday night, Sept. 12, with a seventies-inspired Spring 2009 collection of jersey dresses and flared jumpsuits that showed a more restrained side of Simmons.

Even the level of calm at Roseland Ballroom, where the show was held, signaled an older, wiser Baby Phat. A loudspeaker politely intoned people to "Please take your seats," and no catfights broke out over stolen swag. One woman had to be carried out by security kicking and screaming, but that was well before most people had arrived.

Still, per Simmons' fashionably fabulous style, the show, titled "Decade," started over an hour late. Most VIP's like Ice-T and his wife Coco and U.S. Open winner Serena Williams came at the last minute, but it was Vogue editor-at-large Andre Leon Talley who held up the proceedings in the end. Breezing in just past 8 p.m., when Talley sat down the show immediately began.

A video recap counted down Baby Phat's greatest hits from 1999 to the present, building anticipation for the models, who were revealed from behind the screen after a brief laser light moment. The anticipation thick, everyone was at the edge of their seats wondering what kind of over-the-top birthday statement Simmons would make.

Though seventies-era Cher was the beauty inspiration - models wore stick-straight parted down the middle hair, by Odile Gilbert, and wide, open eyes line with both upper and lower false lashes, none of Cher's wildest fashion moments turned up as inspiration on the Baby Phat runway, aside from some ridiculous fringed vests that recalled Cher's Pocahontas moments.

Turns out that for Simmons, the opposite of excess is the most radical statement she can make at this point in her career. Her first look, a short bronze sequined dress with sexy draped back was the type of glam get-up for which Baby Phat is known, but that was the only such piece.

Instead, Simmons focused mostly on wearable looks such as jersey dresses, denim flares, vests and demure floral painted silk dresses. Simmons has always loved a jumpsuit, so there were also plenty of those, and this season she'll be right on trend with that look. Shoes consisted of strappy python embossed platform sandals with mirrored talon-like heels or stilettos with patent leather-covered heels.

Judging by the menswear, Baby Phat boyfriends have also been reined in and tamed. Relaxed, baggy suits, graphic print tanks, brightly colored shorts and khaki or camouflage shirts and jackets were the primary looks. More flashy were the shoes - gold and silver Wallabee boots with black piping.

The invite read, "For over 10 years, Baby Phat has been reinventing fashion for women everywhere," and while this collection didn't reinvent very much, for those who aspire to do and be whatever Kimora is at the moment, it hardly matters.

I am in LOVE with her new line which is totally awesome!!!

I really think that the new collection is totally Young, Hip, and Chic. I like the way that the clothes are less revealing and chic at the same time. I would really wear one of those outfits because they are inspired by one of my favorite times...the Seventies! Congratulations, Ms. Simmons and best of luck!

Teen Vogue- Lacoste Event in Philly, PA

Today I visited the Lacoste Boutique in Philly, PA for the Teen Vogue, It Girl event. It was really cool. I met with Michelle of Teen Vogue and she was digging my style...lol.

There was a DJ that was playing some of the hottest music, he had the place rocking. While we sipped on Lemonade drinks and snacked on little cupcakes, we were mildly entertained by the models who wore some of the hot styles that would be the bomb for the school year. Note: It is never too late to get fashion for school.

Lacoste, the makers of I-Zod had so many cool looks that it was really hard to choose what was the hot hot, but check out the picture of the following handbags. These bags were really cool and had to go on my "Gotta Get List". The little clutch was great because it goes with almost anything, and the tote bag fits anything you want plus more in it.

The Miracle Girls was one of the best reads for the closing of the summer! Friendship, love, and miracles were what made this book, for me, the best book!!!

Is USA Bikini, Way too Tiny?

Just recently I was watching the news and they were having a debate on whether or not the women playing in the Women’s Olympics Volleyball Game bikinis were too small. According to some of the responses, they think that the bikinis are a little too revealing and sexiest because the men are fully clothed and the women are showing parts that are considered to be “sexy areas”.

In my opinion, I think that the bikinis look great and that there are not very revealing. I do not look at these women and cringe in dismay. I think that the attire looks athletic and fashionable.
I also think that the suits are made that way in order to create better movement. Think about it, they are in the sand, and no one wants to be weighed down by the clothes, and then clothes filled with sand. In addition, they also get to get a great tan while playing for the gold!!!

What do you think? Are the bikinis to small or do you think it’s the perfect size?
Should the women wear baggy shorts and a t-shirt? Do you think that they are selling sex in sports?

Well, just recently I was reading Yahoo!’s Fashion News and read the article below. I was thinking to myself, “What?! What do they mean by ‘the Jonas Brothers wants to dress you’?” The article mentioned that sure enough, they want to create their own clothing line. An afterthought was, “Here goes another celeb that wants their name on a clothing line...”

"I'm not saying we're the best designers in the world, but being able to make what we like, that would be so cool," oldest sibling Kevin, 20, told me the other day in Hollywood, where the trio was appearing on FNMTV Premieres. "We love dressing up and putting on different kinds of clothes."
I wonder from you, is it fair for celebrities to make their own fashion line when there are other people who dedicated their life to fashion and they can’t even get their foot in the door?

Although I respect the Jonas Brothers and those artists that truly have a gift of fashion like Gwen Stefanie, Eve, and other fashion divas, but it seems that celebrities can come out with a clothing line whenever they want just because their name is attached. They get all of the marketing support and people interested in their lines, but for the true budding Fashionista, he/she gets bypassed because they are new. They have to grind and grind, and sometimes come out with nothing and end up just becoming a seamstress at a dry cleaner (true story). Budding fashionistas spend money, time, and effort to make their clothing line, while some star who had no fashion flair and pays a stylist for their look says, “be” and it becomes. This is just my opinion, tell me yours.

Hey Divas!

I had the best time taping YHC’s 2nd webisode! It is all about my favorite kind of style...VINTAGE!!!

It was so much fun taping it; I got to dress up in vintage clothes (and of course have a vintage hairdo, lol), do interviews with a vintage store owner and talk with Naneke of the Beauty Studio. My family said that I looked like Elaine from Seinfeld, that’s cool because she’s cute. Others thought I looked like a vintage doll. That was very flattering.

Thoughts of the Week!!!

Hi Divas:

I have created a new thing here at YHC. I know have thoughts of the week!!! I will share an observation and I am interested in knowing what you think...

Here is my 1st thought of the week:

I was recently taping for the second webisode of my show, YHC at a salon, when I noticed that two young ladies were staring at me; not ina bad way but I could tell that they were interested in what I was doing. When they finally asked me about it, I explained it to them and they were like, "wow, that's cool."

Anyway, the next question was who was my stylist. I told them my mom and I, and they seemed more impressed and this is why: They said that the way that I was dressed made me look interesting and important. Other women in the salon said that I looked like a doll.

Overall, they said that my style made me very interesting. By the way, I am a Vintage/Retro Fanatic!!! Of course, I was flattered. But it made me realize that the way you dress makes people think about whether or not you are serious about what you do or how approachable you are, etc.

How do you think that the way that you dress affects the people around you? Like family, friends, neighbors?

"Young Hip & Chic" is a new webisode that is making it's mark on the superfast media highway!!!

The show is dedicated to young Fashionsita's everywhere that are looking to stay in the know with the from the latest fashions; to the history of fashion; and where you can get the best fashion tips and clothes that fit into your budget and your look.

The shows audience is targeting young people, of all ethnicities from the age of 13-19.

We are looking for a stylist for the host, Tweety Elitou, Fashionsita Extraordinaire . The stylist must be able to choose clothing that appeals to the youth. Clothing must be hip!!!

We are looking for designers that are interested in having their clothing and product featured on the show. This is great media exposure!!! The clothing must appeal to young audiences and full of flavor!!!

We are also looking for models that are interested in the exposure that they will receive from the show that will help build a resume for their future career!!!

Bgirling Isn't as Easy as it Looks...

OMG! I just got myself back together from Sunday...

Well I went to a Bgirling class taught by the Boogie Down Bronx, Honey Rockwell on Sunday. I had fun doing moves like the "The Coffee Grinder" and "The Bridge". Well anyways, I must have danced too much or something because when I got home, my calves and arms were killing me!!!

So I wake up the next morning (Monday) and I can't feel my body...I felt like I was gonna die...lol. I couldn't even get out of bed!

I just learned a very, very important lesson-- never guess something is easy before you tried it!!!

Now, the great news!!! You will get to see my great adventure right here!!! That's right, my show YOUNG, HIP & CHIC will air here,www.infinitemag.net, www.younghipchic.blogspot.com and www.youtube.com/infinitemag.

Jo'ni Rip the Runway Competition was the BOMB!!!

I was one of the judge for the Jo'ni Rip the Runway High School Edition that took place in Philly, PA at Ben Franklin High School.

The girls were great and the event was the bomb!!

Three of the chapters that caught my attention are:

Chapter 4- Tame Those Brows: It explains how important eyebrows are to making you look old. Bushy, shapeless, gray eyebrows are a no, no according to Ms. Krupp. Also did you know that it’s better to tweeze after a shower rather than before? Find out why.

Chapter 9- Put on Pink Lip Gloss: Lipstick makes a difference in how old you look. Dark, cracked, thin lips are perfect for you…IF YOU WANNA LOOK OLD! In this book you can finds ways to make your lips look Y & H (young and hip). Remember ladies, lip gloss is poppin’!!!

Chapter 18- Step into Sexy Heels: Did you know the shoes that you wear can actually make you look old??? In How Not to Look Old, Charla talks about what shoes are Y & H and which ones have old written all over it. Ugly orthopedic shoes, boring classic pumps, all of them can make you look boring and ready for a rocking chair.

I really loved the way this book included brilliant buys. She gives you great recommendations, the cost and where they are usually sold. The pictures were also very useful because it gave you and idea of what looks hip and chic and what is just…..well wrong! The colorful words also added to the fun and fresh read.

Although I am young, I found that reading what was young, hip and chic was beneficial to me so that I stay in the know of the forever changing fashion trends. The book was also very helpful to me because I think that it is important to look your best and that was something that she focused on as well.

So if you are queasy about those needles and let’s face it, who can afford it, and you are looking to make a difference to you wardrobe for a very small price, then you should be getting this book! Like Charla says, “Forget aging gracefully!”

Rip the Runway

Lights, Cameras, Clothes, and Models are all of the ingredients you need in order to have a “Fashionable” fashion show. Many of you know that I am very picky about fashion shows so when I tell you that the one I am writing about is good then you know it was…

Jo’ni Modelz, Inc. “Rip-the-Runway Competition” High School Edition did it again. They had all the ingredients of a “Fashionable” runway affair. Last year the show was good (Sayre’s Next Top Model) and this one was even better! I am already looking forward to next year!

Not only was this year an all high school edition, but there were also a chance for males too. Most of the High Schools in Philadelphia were in attendance representing their high school.

When I first arrived, I went backstage all I seen was weave, clothes, shoes, and accessories; it made me think of all the rushing around you have to do when you are doing runway. Now keep in mind that this is more of a show of talent and entertainment then it is a show that is about the designs of an up and coming designer.
Most of the models are in their costumes and make-up. They smiled, and one said, “Aren’t you one of the judges?”
That was so weird to me because I’m so use to being in the modeling position, and having to smile and wonder what the judges were thinking when they saw me... but today I am a judge (whoop, whoop!).

After I took my seat, in the judging seat, that is (lol), I looked around and saw that the room was now full to its capacity and people were eager and ready to check out the show. People were standing everywhere.

After about ten minutes, the curtains opened which meant that the show was starting! The first scene was called “Masquerade”. The models were all wearing black and colorful mask. They music that was playing was “Fashionista” by Jimmy James and it was fierce! “The show is about to start!” blasted from the speakers. Just from the intro I already knew that this was going to be one heck of a show.

Well, it is hard to comment on every piece of the show, but I will tell you about some of my favorite scenes:

Scene 2: Rich Girls- When the girls worked it (the rich way of course). One of my modeling buddies, Sayidah Bey, served it up as the "Queen Bee”.

Scene 5: Jumanji- The girls (and guys) took a walk on the wild side. The fashions were leopard and zebra prints that gave it a jungle feel.

Scene 6: Glitz vs. Glam- Glitz and Glam battled it out in a walk off.

Scene 9: Thriller (Prelude) – The fashion nightmares came to life.

To entertain us between scenes, there were the Blue Diamond Steppers, which I thought were ok, the Point Breeze Performing Arts Dance Company which surprisingly to me were very good. Because I am not much for praise dancing I give them two thumbs up. UX’s own Franky J was a great host for the audience competitions. You had to see these two guys serve it up on the stage.

After an evening of entertainment, finally, THE COMPETITION!!! I could tell that everyone was excited to see what was going to happen when the lights got low, the stage started to fog and the curtains opened! There were 16 lovely contestants that walked it out to win. I had to watch everything from creativity to professionalism and overall look. It was really hard for me. If it was up to me everyone would have won, but since there had to be a first female and male, second place winner, and third I knew I had better snap out of it. After everyone walked, it was time for “us” judges to deliberate. It was so hard! Some judges had one person as the winner then others had another, “I liked contestant 9 and 16!” said one judge.
“Well, I like contestant 13 and 2!” said another.
It was complete chaos! Finally, after about 15 min of disagreements, we ended up having to do a “count the hand’ vote. When we were done picking our winners, it was time for the judges to go on stage and announce the diva and don of the evening.

The winners were Shaquetta Carter (2nd place), Khaleem Brown (2nd Place male), and Ebony Townsend and Kevin Kelly were the 1st place winners! It truly was a hard decision to make!

Again, I loved the show and hope that Jo’ni Modelz Inc will continue to do what they do for the community because they are really making a difference in Philadelphia and I really want to get that across to everyone. This show was not just about fashion and beauty it had a deeper meaning to it, the true meaning was to inspire others to become agents of change and to also bring back the loving memory of the Townsend’s dearly beloved son, brother, and friend Derrick A. Townsend.

The Good!!!
Jovanna & Lisa Townsend are the best!!! They put off an event that was awesome. I was proud to be one of the judges. These ladies are great at hosting and really know how to treat their VIP’s!!! A nice dinner and a gift. Mad props, ladies!!!
There were two girls that I thought deserved my recognition and they are Tiara Willis- she was #1, and Tiffany Braddock- she was #9. Congratz ladies you made my top list.

The Bad & What???
The show went on a little too long. It was almost 12:00 am when we left. I would suggest that the scenes be cut just a little so that the show is 2 hours only.

Another bad thing was the host Mr. Jeffrey Brown! He could not get the names of anything right to save his life! First he called the founder Jovanna everything but her name, and he had the same problem with the company, Jo’ni. Worse of all, he pronounced my name wrong! He called me, “Tweet Elitour”, what the heck!
My advice to Jo’ni is to never ever, ever get this man to host their event again!

Too many awards were given out making the night longer. I think that some of the awards could have been given at an awards ceremony for the models and family. That would have been nice.

Although Eboni Townsend did a great job as, I think that because she is the sister of Jovanna Townsend, she should not have been able to participate in the competition because as she became the winner, it may have made some people think that it was rigged in her favor when it actually wasn’t— I know because I was one other judges. But for the sake of no drama, that would be best.

Overall, if you missed this event, you better not miss the next because not only is it the hottest thing for the teens to be a part of, it is for a very good cause and it is always good to see that people care.

I love fashion and everything that has to do with it! In addition, I love good books. So when iMAG received Style A to Zoe from famous fashion stylist Rachel Zoe I was all over it! It was a fashionista’s dream come true. I had to be the one to write the review because fashion is what I love and I am always open to learn more.

I had no idea the amount of people that Rachel styled and you get the point when you see the images of celebrities like Naomi Campbell, Cameron Diaz, Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway, Joy Bryant, Lindsay Lohan and many others sporting her styles. She even had the pleasure of styling Mary J. Blige.

Style A to Zoe gives a lot of great ideas such as:

*Five glamour essentials for under $50
*Day-off essentials
*How to know when it is time to let something go
*How to pimp up your closet
*Emergency fixers each stylist should have

Some of my favorite chapters are:

Introduction: Dream On where she tells you how she got onto the stylist road. I also liked to play dress up and see what I could do with my clothes to make them look different. I get a lot of magazines and gaze at the images just as Zoe describes. I connected with that chapter

Chapter 6: Behind Closed Doors tells you how to make your house represent you! In this chapter she incorporated a nice little segment about how to organize your living.

In the last chapter she gives you the A to Zoe the important things to remember!

Zoe’s personal touch to the book gives her an A+. I felt like I was speaking to my own personal stylist one on one. This book is definitely the book for you if you need help looking chic, what to wear, making your home match you and primping your closet.

The Sensationel Road to $25,000

Have you ever heard the saying “beauty comes with a price”? Well, let me tell you there was a price to pay for the contestants in the Sensationnel Hair Idol Model Search. There was a lot of practice, getting pictures taken; getting your hair done, getting make-up before and during the big day arrived at the Convention Center in Philadelphia, PA.

I was thankful for the opportunity to be a part of this great event that was brought to Philly by the infamous Glynn Jackson of the Glynn Jackson Agency and Sensationnel Hair. Glynn Jackson, also known as the founder of the largest hair shows in the country, including the Golden Scissor Awards was a great coach to all of the models. At every practice along with Cyndi Lane of Iconz Models, we had to look good. Our walks had to show that we were going to serve the runway and we did.

The day before the actual event, we had to get prepared for the Press Party that took place at the World Live Café which included entertainment and a brief conference that explained the purpose of the Sensationnel Hair Idol Model Search which is to recognize the winner in each and every woman. There were women of various shapes and sizes that participated in the event. There were also young women who were working mothers that received recognition for their efforts to stay strong and beautiful (inside and out) during their struggles with hardship. These women received wonderful makeovers and gifts from various sponsors.

The night was filled with wonderful music which included the featured appearance of Carol Riddick. She is an amazing talent and wow, can she sing. She swept everyone away with her jazzy and soulful song “Brown Eyed Girl”. After Ms. Riddick’s performance, Mr. Glynn Jackson called all of the contestants to the stage so that they could introduce themselves to the awaiting people who would be seeing us model at the hair show which included press and photographers so that they could get good pictures (kind of a before and after). Professional photographer for Infinite MagaZine (and my dad) Aalim Elitou got fantastic shots of me and the other models (thanks Nux).

Personally, I had the pleasure of meeting Nikki Tucker, stylist to Alicia Keys. She was there to teach stylists some of the new trends that would be set for the year to come. She was so nice and I look forward to meeting up with her again in the future.

Near the close of the evening, the models and I danced and had a great time. I was soon ready to go home because I knew that I had a long day ahead of me and tomorrow was going to start very early.

The next day; the big day; the day that I had been waiting for finally arrived. At ten in the morning I was ready to have my makeup done and that was a long wait because there were more than forty ladies waiting to get theirs done as well. While I was waiting to get my make-up done, I got the chance to talk to some of the contestants. Karita and Ashley my Iconz sisters asked me if I was nervous. I thought about it and I told them, “No, I am ready and very excited.” I had been waiting for this day to come so nervousness just never set in.
After my makeup was applied I looked in the mirrors and almost didn’t recognize myself. I had never had makeup done before and I looked so different. I was definitely ready now to serve the runway. “You look so nice,” said Kerry Scott of Fatboy Hype. I begin to practice with runway coach for Fat Boy and Tarantula designer Kevin Parker who has always been a support.
Hair was simple and easy for me because I was told to wear it wild and big and all that took was for me to tease it out and it looked fabulous. I was really impressed with some of the creativity that was surrounding me. There were people transforming right before my eyes. There were styles that were unique and wild and some that were simple and classy but nevertheless they all made a statement. I think that some of the fantasy styles were my favorite.

When the doors opened at 6:00 pm the downstairs began to fill up with family, friends, and media. I think that people with daughters, sisters, mothers, etc were more nervous and excited for us than we were. Come on!!! This was only the hottest hair show in Philly. Not to mention someone was going to win $3,000 and then be on their way to winning $25,000. The place was jammed packed in fifteen minutes and the show was soon to begin, on time.

This was my first hair show and I was not aware of what I was going to see. At the hair shows there is a lot of entertainment from the stylists and the models in which some dance and some walk the runway. The best of the night was the skit of women who were stealing a Sensationnel wig, the women who were robotic puppets (they really did it up), and the wild Barbie dolls that broke out of their boxes. I loved it.
The excitement backstage was also interesting because people had to change into their costumes as fast as possible so that they could appear on stage again. It was not long before we had to come out and be judged. It really all began to set in with me that I may win. What would happen next? Who will win? How will I do?

All the girls that went before seemed to be focused on their walk and they did their best. Mr. Jackson called “Contestant 24” which was me and everyone clapped. I wore a beautiful mint green dress that looked like it was straight out of Vogue Magazine. I did my pose and walked my walk to the T. The runway seemed to be so long and it seemed to last forever. I was not able to hear anything around me— not the sound of the music, not the sound of cheering, nothing. When I got down the steps of the stage I could hear again. When I got backstage, I walked up to a girl and asked, “How do you think you did?” She replied, “I am so sad that I am about to cry. I think I did a bad job”. However, before she could finish another girl said, “you did well” and that lifted the girl’s spirit.

The moment of truth was here and someone was going to get 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. All the models called to the stage for the finale walk. Before Glynn Jackson called the 10 finalists, he said that five women would be coming with him to Washington, DC to participate in another event. I was one of the five finalists invited to go to DC. I was very happy. When everyone got to the back of the stage Glynn Jackson called the 10 finalists and everyone went crazy and began screaming. They seemed to be pleased with the outcome. Contestant 60 came in third place winning $500, Contestant 21 in second place winning $1,500, and Contestant 56 won the grand prize $3,000. All three of them will be going to DC to finish the contest in November in order to win $25,000 in cash and prizes.

I had a wonderful time and it was a great experience. I want to thank Glynn Jackson and his team for all of their support, Cyndi Lane, and most importantly my parents for always being there for me.

Sayres Next Top Model

We at Infinite Magazine walked into the school auditorium not knowing what to expect, but we were definitely in for a surprise. We were nicely entertained by recording artists Lil Rick of Def Jam Records and Shon of Sony Records as we waited for the models.

While the huge room started to fill up with proud parents, close friends, happy children, and eager photographers the DJ played some of the newest hits which made the crowd dance in their seats.

As the lights turned down the red curtain opened and we all eagerly awaited the divas of the evening. The first scene “D.I.T. (Diva’s In Training)” was an awesome performance by young women dressed in white button down blouses and school girl skirts showing that they were truly divas in training. They danced to the music of Fergie’s Glamorous Life. Everyone screamed joyfully to see their friend, daughter, or sister giving their best.

Renewing the Mind Dance Ministry performed a very well choreographed praise dance which the crowd totally enjoyed. It was uplifting.

The “An Urban Flare Has Arisen” was another scene that had everyone’s attention. Twelve girls stood on the stage with colorful masks and glitter on their faces. They were wearing urban outfits like tights and other colorful pieces of attire. The young diva moved around the stage like zombies to the tune of Madonna’s Hung Up as if they were under a fashion spell.

After all the performances the question was still in the air “Who will be Sayre’s next top model?” It was time for the 16 girls and guy to rip the runway and show off their stuff. The first walk was judged on personality and the second was on straight runway. After everyone walked, it was time to deliberate.

While the judges were debating the models walked showing off their 80’s style clothing while dancing the Soul Train Line. Everyone expressed amusement when the girls danced to Freak Out by Chic. When the fun was over, the girls lined up in a straight line waiting for the judges to tell us who Sayre’s next top model for 2007 would be.

It was a tense moment for the models as all of them held each others hands tightly Shanay Ball, Miss Black Pennsylvania 2006; Erica Kane, Radio Personality Power 99FM; Antwain D. Hill, Distinct Le’ Couture Agency; William Brown, Dark Tower Records Affiliate; and Edwina Justice, Urbanea had finally came up with the results.

Erica Kane walked onto the stage and said, “The winner of Sayre’s top model is Felecia C.!” They crowd went wild. She had won the trophy, $100 dollars cash, a photo shoot, and as a bonus she got the contract with Distinct Le’ Couture Clothing Co. and agency.

You could hear the parents and friends scream with delight. They gave her the trophy and the microphone but Felecia could barely say anything she was nearly crying with joy but she did manage a humble, “thank you.”

Something tells me that Felcia C. will be a diva to look out for in the near future.

We would like to thank Jovanna Townsend and Lisa Townsend for the invitation and look forward to next year. The production was awesome and very well put together.
